Azerbaijan – Bulgaria Energy Partnership Deal

Azerbaijan has doubled its natural gas supplies to Bulgaria, reaching 2 billion cubic meters in 2024. This significant increase has strengthened Azerbaijan’s position as a reliable energy partner for the European Union. The country has been steadily increasing its gas exports to Europe, with the Southern Gas Corridor originally designed to supply 10 billion cubic meters annually.

The Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector has transformed Bulgaria’s energy market, reducing dependence on Russian gas imports. The interconnector’s technical capacity is estimated at 3 billion cubic meters per year, with potential expansion to 5 billion cubic meters. This partnership has strengthened economic ties between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria, benefiting both countries through increased trade and strategic partnerships.
