Karachi has launched its autonomous vehicle assembly line, powered by artificial intelligence (AI). The project is led by the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) at NED University. A virtual driving system has been launched, and efforts are underway to bring AI-driven automobiles to the streets. The project aims to make NED University the first Pakistani university to offer test drives in an autonomous vehicle.
The development team is using AI and robotics techniques to enhance the vehicle’s capabilities. The car’s mapping is complete, and AI algorithms are managing critical functions like object detection and traffic signal recognition. The team is rigorously testing these features in simulated driving environments. The project is a major step forward in Pakistan’s technical development and autonomous vehicle technology.
