EU Supports Azerbaijan’s Data Infrastructure

The European Investment Bank’s global arm has signed a €43 million loan agreement to develop digital infrastructure for governmental services in Azerbaijan. The loan will be used to build two new state-of-the-art data centers, providing cloud services and making public information more secure, speedy, and accessible. This project aims to modernize public administration and contribute to sustainable economic growth and social progress.

The initiative is aligned with the European Union’s Economic and Investment Plan for the Eastern Partnership and the Global Gateway strategy. The project will have a positive impact on Azerbaijan’s digital ecosystem, making cloud services more accessible for organizations. The two data centers will be built using green technologies in the Absheron and Hajigabul regions. This investment will foster sustainable development and digital transformation in the region.
