EU Updates Sustainable Finance Rules

The Platform on Sustainable Finance has launched a public consultation to update the EU Taxonomy, a classification system for sustainable economic activities. The consultation focuses on revisions to improve usability, simplify DNSH criteria, and expand eligible activities aligned with the EU’s six environmental objectives. These objectives include climate change mitigation, water protection, and biodiversity conservation.

The proposed updates include simplified DNSH criteria, addressing companies’ calls for clearer guidelines to assess significant harm. The scope of eligible activities is also broadened to include digital services and mining of key materials like lithium and copper. Stakeholders are invited to provide evidence-based feedback during the consultation period.
