India Develops Affordable AI Platform

India is set to launch its own secure and cost-effective AI model, tailored to its unique needs and global aspirations. This indigenous AI model will be available within six months, driven by an advanced computing infrastructure developed under the India AI Mission. The initiative aims to make AI accessible and beneficial to a wide range of users.

The India AI Mission focuses on AI applications across critical sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, climate change, and disaster management. Eighteen AI applications have been identified to address pressing societal issues. The government has issued a Call for Proposals to support the development of foundational AI models using Indian datasets. The goal is to address India’s unique challenges and improve the lives of citizens using AI.
