India Proposes Cybersecurity Regulations

The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules require companies to implement robust cybersecurity measures, including encryption, access control, and data backups. This aims to safeguard personal data and ensure its confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Organizations face penalties of up to ₹250 crore for misusing or failing to safeguard digital data. The rules also mandate the appointment of a Chief Telecommunication Security Officer (CTSO) to oversee telecom cybersecurity. Telecom entities must report security incidents within six hours, sharing additional information within 24 hours. This emphasizes the importance of cybersecurity in protecting sensitive data.
