Philippines: Catbalogan’s Smart City Initiative

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Samar has committed P1.5 million to support Catbalogan City’s transformation into a smart and sustainable city. This four-year project aims to integrate technology and innovative solutions across various sectors. The initiative focuses on enhancing sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

Key components of the project include installing a data server, implementing energy-efficient solutions, and developing intelligent systems. The city aims to expand its infrastructure, improve services, and enhance civic involvement by 2025. By 2040, Catbalogan aims to achieve full sustainability with underground infrastructure and a robust digital ecosystem.
