Vietnam is shifting its focus to digital transformation and the digital economy to drive future growth, as traditional growth drivers near their limits. The country aims to achieve high-income status by 2030 and rank among the top 50 in digital infrastructure, technology, and industry. Vietnam’s telecommunications sector has made significant progress, moving up 36 spots in global rankings since 2018. The nation’s cybersecurity standing is also strong, ranking 17th globally.
Vietnam’s digital economy accounts for over 18% of its GDP, with annual growth exceeding 20% in 2024. The government expects this figure to rise to 30-35% by 2030. E-government and digital governance are key components of Vietnam’s digital transformation efforts, with the goal of joining the top 50 in global e-government rankings by 2028.
